A Century of Faith

For one hundred years, New Zion Baptist Church has stood as a testimony to God’s faithfulness. From its beginnings in 1926 through generations of worship, service, fellowship, and community ministry, New Zion’s story has been shaped by those who prayed, served, sacrificed, and carried the mission forward. As we celebrate our Centennial, we honor the past, give thanks for the present, and look with faith toward the future.

CENTENNIAL MEMORIES

Stories, reflections, and treasured memories from the New Zion family.

My Home, New Zion

Latosha Black

New Zion, The Well Life Church, has been my church home since I was a little girl. I am now 43 years old, and throughout every season of my life, this church has been there. New Zion has been through so much over the years. We have faced tests and trials, but through it all, God has kept us. Every storm we endured only made us stronger, and we are still standing today by His grace. I grew up here with so many amazing people who are still my dearest friends to this day. That is what makes New Zion so special — it’s more than a church, it’s family. Do I miss the old days of New Zion? I most certainly do. But where New Zion is right now, I love it even more. We are still receiving some of the best teaching of the Word. Our pastor has a true love for God and a genuine love for His Word. We wouldn’t trade him for anything in this world. You couldn’t ask for a better shepherd — a pastor who not only honors the Word, but lives by the Word, and runs God’s house by the Word. The Bible says, “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” Psalm 119:105. Why not follow it? It is the best guide you will ever have, and you absolutely can’t go wrong when you follow it. I love New Zion more now than I ever have before. No matter where life takes me, New Zion will always be HOME. If you are looking for a place to belong, a place to grow, and a place to be family — you will find it here.

A Future of Promise

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”

Jeremiah 29:11 KJV

With gratitude for the past and faith for the future, New Zion Baptist Church continues the journey.
